Donations
A donation for the benefit of an individual cannot generally qualify as a charitable or quasi- charitable purpose and therefore there is no income tax deduction. Your donation to The Tyrrell Family will be considered a personal gift. There is no gift tax filing that is required by the donor unless the gift is substantial (in excess of $13,000 per year), and even in such a case, there is no gift tax that would be payable by the donor. There is also no income tax payable by the donee as a gift is not reportable on the donee’s income tax return.
